As most fans are aware of by now, Futurama - a brilliant and hilarious sci-fi cartoon - is returning to television this coming June 24th, 2010.

Of course, I wouldn't be able to call myself a Futurama fan if I didn't celebrate this in some way. No, I'm not talking about the time I went wild with jubilation at the news and baked a cake.

Oh, noo - this time, the aim is MUCH higher than simple pastry.

For this round, the celebration must spread farther, must include as many other Futurama fans as possible!

My friends, I am proposing that we embark on a massive community project~!!

FUTURAMA CHARACTER COUNTDOWN

What is this project about?

The idea behind this project is to count down the last 100 days until the premiere. Each day will have a Character prompt assigned to it. A week's worth, or 7, Character Prompts will be revealed at a time. At the end of every week, the journal will be updated with a new set of 7 prompts and so on.

What do I have to do?

You may compose ANY type of fan creation centering around the Character Prompt (drawing, writing, fanvid tribute, cosplay, etc).

Does my fan creation have to be a masterpiece to be accepted?

If your fan creation is a drawing or a piece of writing, it is perfectly fine for the drawing can be as simple as a sketch and the writing to be a small paragraph, drabble length. You do NOT have to go "all out" on every prompt, though you can if you want to.

Do I have to do EVERY single Character Prompt?

You are NOT required to complete every single Character Prompt - you can choose whichever ones you want to do, or do them all. Your choice~

What do I do when I'm done creating?

After you have completed your fan creation, you may comment on this journal with a link to it. My partner, !CrystalMask, and I will feature your creation on our pages during the week corresponding to the prompt.

What will be done with all of the project entries?

Every single fan creation for every week will be saved. At the very end, on the day of the new Futurama season's premiere, I will compose a news article or two to showcase all of our Futurama fan creations together.

What if I'm late to the project and I missed the character I wanted to do?

If you are late to join the project and have missed a character prompt that you want to do, you may still make a fan creation and it will still be included in the project and the final news article(s)."

When does this crazy project start?

It already has! On Tuesday, March 16th, there were 100 days left before the premiere of the new season of Futurama.

Sure, it was twice the size of me, but come on. We traded land for that? That bead sucked.
Alright, alright, it was useful for the general checking of teeth. It was useful the occasional styling of head-dress. It was useful for sweet Martian rave party that happened twice a month.
But come on! It's a bead! What the heck do we do with it? Use it as mirror? Tried that, got boring. Pick up girls? We have all tried that one.
Wong family can have bead back now.

99. That Bender fellow certainly was a charmer of a man-bot.
No-one had ever made her heart feel :thumb158992957: FC Countdown - 93-87 93. She held her lover in her metallic golden arms, embracing his crumpled body to her breast. Though his identical brother was envious of their relationship (which just a few moments ago was in pieces), he rescued her lover from certain death. And for that, he'd always have a place in her heart. But she would always be in love with the robot in her arms, not his saviour.
"Angleyne…" he whispered hoarsely.
"Y-Yes, Flexo?"
He coughed, his metal chest buckling. "Wanna do it?"
"Damn straight."

92. We are the down-grade. Sure, you may think we're some stupid, slow-minded hippies programmed for useless facts, but we' FC Countdown - 86-80 86. Never, not once, had I seen a doctor as fine as him. He worked with such determination, such passion for his job. Made my jelly squirm, that's what it did.
At first I thought that he was a joke. I mean, a lobster doctor trying to fit in amongst a war-scene? He wouldn't ever fit in. The other doctors made sure of this, mocking his… uh… small amount of surviving patients…
Hmm? Would I date him? Um… well, I don't… hmm… Sorry, Zoidberg. But this jellyfish needs a lil' bit more meat in her man. You're good material though, hun.

An average-looking gray strip mall was acceptably full of activity. It was Dr. Adlai Atkins's first day at his new practice on the Neutral Planet. So far he found the people likeable, and he seemed to already have made an acquaintance in his landlord who had instructed him to turn in his rent at the first of each month, or whenever.

Those who passed by his office seemed moderately interested, reading the sign before moving along the walkway.

His first item of the day was a consultation with a Mr. Don. The man was the only one in the waiting room, and he followed Dr. Atkins into his office without comment.

"Now Mr. Do :thumb165647199: FC Countdown - 58-52 58. "Even on y'wedding day you still look like a fat little potato, Conrad!"
Hermes turned from the mirror to see the fit image that was Barbados Slim, dressed in formal attire and looking better than ever. Hermes sucked in his slowly developing pot-belly and adjusted his bow-tie. "Good to see you too, Slim..." he muttered.
"Oh come now, Hermes!" he said, approaching him and slapping him over the shoulder. "Today's y'big day! I'm just 'ere to wish you the best!"
Hermes paused. "Slim, you really wishin' me luck?"
"Course not! LaBarbara's too much woman for you, Conrad!" laughed Slim cruelly.

57. Steph nearly wanted to b FC Countdown - 51-45 51. The moon was a dark, evil, and barren piece of rock. Milk-white mountains and pebbles, the only signs of life on the entire planet were the theme-park tourists and the Hydroponic Farmer. His three daughters didn't count.
"Daisy Mae! What you doin'?"
Daisy Mae 128k stopped at the glass gates of the farm. "I want out, Pa!"
From behind the farmer came out the robot's sister models: Crushinator and Lulubelle 7. Daisy felt the stab instantly. "Traitors! Y'all promised you wouldn't tell!"
"You'll get your heart broken," said Crushinator flatly.
"I didn't rat you were preggers!"
...
"WHAT'CHU DO, CRUSHINATOR?!"

50. Cha FC Countdown - 79-73 79. My, my, my, how much she had grown. When she was a little kid, she would wear the cheapest hand-me-downs that Cookievlle was donated. But now here she was, all dressed up with her purple curls in that same ponytail. It was how I could tell it was her without even needing to see that-
Oh GOD, she still had that thing?!!?
I listened to her explain her place in the world, but thinking it over. I was a surgeon, after all, and now that she and I were grown up and sensible, reasonable adults she could make a choice.

78. Mr Panucci was not a happy guy. He had been running the same pizzeria nearly his whole life, chasing aft FC Countdown - 72-66 72. "Something approaches!" she called into the shaking wilderness. She hid the E! magazine underneath a tree-root and out of site, standing up and pointing dramatically to the shivering shrubs and tropical plants.
Kif, of the clan Kroker, and his smizmarr approached through the greenery.
"What calls thee to these waters?" asked the Grand Midwife in a hushed tone.
"Oh, w-we're just here to see our young-ones," explained Kif.
"Oh, in that case make it quick, I'm in the middle of something," snapped the midwife as she sat back down and revealed the magazine again.
"Sorry if we disturbed you, Mid-wife."
