Oh man, I've been sitting on this idea for SO LONG.

Designs/story are very heavily based off of the movie-verse, obviously as I love that movie and all the songs that comes with it <3 Charlotte's singing realllly tugs my heartstrings ;-;

So basically, we have Charlotte who is a successful writer for her own magazine (appropriately named Charlotte's Web) and yet lives in a modest apartment building on the outer edge of the city. Always been told she could've been a singer with her angelic voice, she instead insists that her true passion is in writing and prefers to spend her days with a mug of tea and a quill feathered pen clasped between her fingers as she watches the day go by in the city out of her first floor apartment window.

Fern, who is Wilbur's aunt and raised him, sent the boy fresh out of college to live in the city to pursue his aspirations to be a writer. She set him up with an apartment and a job reference and everything! At first, everything's going smoothly, but it eventually takes a turn for the worst.

Trouble is, the boy's lost his muse and so his writing's been lacking. The Zuckermans, whoever the landlords and rumored to keep an entire farm on the top of the building (they used to be farmers), are nice people, but they have to eat, too. Wilbur's close to losing his first job and behind on the rent, so he'll be kicked out soon as well as losing work. And he doesn't want to face Aunt Fern, who tried so had to help him reach his goals.

And that's when Charlotte comes into the picture - she just so happens to live in the same apartment building and, seeing herself in this fumbling young writer, she takes him under her wing. Charlotte's well known and respected throughout the neighborhood so Wilbur soon makes new friends with everyone, too. And when they learns of his writing problems, they try to inspire him in any way they can, each being as helpful as possible~

'Cept Templeton, the skeezy garbageman who hangs around the neighborhood. No one knows much about him, except that he likes to collect odd (and somewhat unpleasant things) from his shifts, and he has some mysterious past dealings with Charlotte, who insists on keeping him around.

Aaand I've got even more details figured out, but that's the basis of it. x) I might eventually sketch up everyone else's human designs as well, these were so fun!

Charlotte's Web belongs to EB. White.

Great characterizations of two great characters! Templeton and Charlotte, ehh?? For some reason this duo reminds me of Miss Spider and Mr. Centipede from "James and the Giant Peach"... Huh. XD

Honestly, since Templeton marries--and has kids with--a fellow garbage-picker (i.e. another rat, as per the film the designs are based on), I'd rather put Charlotte & Wilbur together, since both are outcasts in their real species as a pig & spider--naturally, because of the stigma that pigs are thought of as unsantitary yet serve the primary purpose of being turned into pork, bacon, & ham, whilst spiders are often irrationally feared by many to the point that most people just squish them straight away when they find them--and since they become the closest of friends via the fact that Charlotte gives her life to save Wilbur's throughout the story.

Oh yes, I understand that. I wasn't implying that they were, or should be, in a relationship of any sort. I simply meant that in the films, I found that Templeton and Charlotte carried a similar, deadpan snarker type of humour when they exchanged dialogue, much like Spider and Centipede did in James and the Giant Peach.

The sole reason I mentioned pairs was because Burton basically implied Centispider in the James & the Giant Peach film, so it's hard to not discuss the matter when the characters are brought up.

An adendum: There's also the fact that Wilbur basically raises Charlotte's daughters like they were his own kids, due to the bond he & Charlotte had. Plus, even when they had just first met, Wilbur called Charlotte beautiful, to which the brilliant spindle writer replied, "Well, I am pretty. Almost all spiders are nice-looking."
